University tuition fees in Austrian universities
Within Austria, you can enrol either in public or private universities, institutes and universities of applied sciences.
Education fees in public universities
- For EU-students: free of charge. Will just have to pay student union and student insurance of 18 EUR per semester.
- For non-EU students: 1450 EUR per year
Scholarships and funding opportunities for international studies in Austria
International students in Austria can get advantage from various education grants and scholarships awarded by Austrian organizations or universities.
The Federal Aid for Students provides education grants for certain areas of study or study allowances. The price of the grants offered is between 475 and 679 EUR per month.
Other scholarships in Austria are offered by the Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Austria; the Austrian government grants a monthly scholarship installment of 940 EUR or sometimes covers the accommodation costs – only for students who live in residence halls.
The University of Vienna prices tuition fees for some study programmes at postgraduate level (Master and PhD courses), that includes the law or international relations, to all international students, regardless of the nationality.
Universities of Applied Sciences in Austria separately decide if they charge tuition fees. Currently, 17 of the 20 Universities of Applied Sciences in Austria need EU students to pay a tuition fee of around 363 EUR per semester. The charge for the student union and student insurance applies as well.
